The planet has historically undergone an ongoing change. Humanity has always looked for methods to make life easier. However, there is a chance for interruption with every adjustment. disruption for individuals who may not be able to adjust to the world’s changing conditions. Disruption is for people who were never given a chance to adjust to a changing reality.

And right now, a similar fresh change is where we stand. a shift from the Information Age to the Knowledge Age. Human intellect and artificial intelligence are becoming increasingly entwined. More than ever, AI can replicate human behaviour. And in this new world, we need to be ready.

What then is the cause of this change?

This transition is being driven by recent advancements in generative AI technologies. Numerous more Generative AI programmes, such as text-to-image programmes like Mid trip, DALL-E 2, and Stable Diffusion, come with a look into the future. Recently published ChatGPT quickly became a viral hit and attracted a million users in a record-breaking five days. These programmes provide complicated data that substantially resembles human data from a single prompt.

In essence, “generative AI” refers to a branch of artificial intelligence that focuses on producing new data that is comparable to current data. Generative AI uses algorithms and programmes to identify patterns and sequences in existing data to create similar content.

What Change Would There Be?

The use cases for generative AI technologies are incredibly diverse and will profoundly affect many with the help of generative AI, new experiments, hypotheses, and conclusions can be developed in the scientific sector. AI could greatly assist in the ideation phase in design-related industries such as architecture and marketing by enhancing many possibilities, hence assisting the designers in producing faster and better products. AI could aid in the creation of repeated code patterns and error debugging, allowing software writers to concentrate primarily on the logic-building process.

Generative AI can be applied across various industries to develop new goods and services, enhance production procedures, and streamline supply chains. The overall effects of generative AI are probably broad-ranging and will likely keep evolving as time goes on. industries. Based on the knowledge and data we offer, generative AI in the field of healthcare can be utilised to deliver a more accurate diagnosis and propose the best course of action, potentially saving lives and improving the patient’s outcome. It can be a useful tool in the legal industry for searching through multiple sources and summarising the information discovered.

But not everyone’s situation is that good. The possible automation of operations like content creation, graphic design, and the production of photos, films, and music might result in a significant loss of jobs in these industries. Similar to this, routine operations like customer service can now be fully automated.

How To Adapt To The Change?

Generative AI improves efficiency and production while allowing people to concentrate more on their creativity. Instead of just investing our time, it enables us to become individuals who invest in our goals. The key to the future is to put more emphasis on creativity. In the end, generative artificial intelligence just creates content using the enormous pre-generated swarms of human creativity that were input as datasets.

By emphasising invention rather than rote learning, an education model change is one possible way to adapt to the changes brought about by the advent of AI. Giving people the knowledge and training they need to move into professions that are less susceptible to automation and educating people on how to use AI are two ways to address job losses. While encouraging the development of new startups and small businesses while encouraging businesses to invest in new jobs as they automate tasks would be an important step to take, the net number of jobs would nonetheless decrease as a result of automation, driving job growth in the economy by increasing infrastructure and public goods.

Despite this, it could still be required to assist employees as they attempt to switch to alternative career paths. Employers who are unable to fill open positions may benefit from the implementation of policies like universal basic income. It takes a mix of efforts from the individual and society as a whole to address and adapt to the shift that would occur with the popularisation of AI.

The Gray Area

Before implementing generative AI on a large scale, it would be necessary to have a detailed discussion about its ethical and social ramifications, which are still a subject of intense dispute. It is important to take precautions not to violate anyone’s rights. The usage of internet resources as datasets by AI tools raises questions about whether these practices are compliant with copyright rules. For instance, a lawsuit alleging that training the AI system on the public GitHub platform breaches the legal rights of the code contributors who contributed the code under open-source licences have been filed in the US high courts. Similarly, AI uses previously created art as datasets to create new works of art, even though the original artist may not want the AI to use their work.

The Internet has primarily evolved with considerably more input from one stratum of society than from others, making it a biassed place as well. No law forbids AI from using inaccurate, skewed, or perhaps even outright false data as input to generate divisive replies. With the usage of AI, there is a dilemma of responsibility that is inherently present: who is accountable for offensive information, the user, the AI, or the business?

In essence, humankind is at a new crossroads, and it is on our collective shoulders to ensure a smooth transition in every way for every social stratum.
